West Virginia-based race team licensed to compete in NASCAR
Team to host "Ultimate Fan Experience" contest give-away for race premiere in 2007
Charleston, W.Va. - West Virginia fans of NASCAR racing will have a home-grown reason to cheer in the 2007 race season - a West Virginia-based race team and a chance to be there when it all begins next season. REVELOCITY RACING, LP, created by four West Virginia natives, was established to provide much needed exposure for the state of West Virginia via competition in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.
Revelocity Racing was sanctioned by NASCAR earlier this summer and was assigned number 73 for the Nextel Cup Series. The team is currently in negotiations with potential drivers for the 2007 season but has committed to the "Car of Tomorrow" schedule which includes 16 races in 2007.
"West Virginians make up a very high percentage of the NASCAR fan base and huge percentage of fans who attend NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events throughout the East Coast," said Jason Hager, Partner, Revelocity Racing. "In fact at a recent Bristol race, a large percentage of fans in attendance were from West Virginia which makes it the best location for us to premiere this team in 2007 with a fellow West Virginian there with us."
To choose that lucky fellow West Virginian, the team is hosting the "Ultimate Fan Experience" contest for one lucky fan. The prize package will feature Hot Passes and access to the REVELOCITY RACING team and driver for the premiere race at Bristol next year. "It is no secret how much West Virginians love racing," Hager said. "For years, people have tried unsuccessfully to bring NASCAR to the Mountain State and now we have the opportunity to take the Mountain State to NASCAR. We can not wait."
