Revelocity Racing has bad day at Richmond International Raceway
#73 Ford Fusion involved in three car wreck on lap 83
RICHMOND, VA (May 4, 2007) - Revelocity Racing, in only their second start on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule, easily qualified the #73 Imperial Bedding/FUZE Beverage Ford Fusion into the field with Brett Rowe behind the wheel. Starting 41st for the Circuit City 250, the team was looking forward to an exciting Richmond debut under the Friday night lights.
With the drop of the green flag, and being green to the Richmond track, Brett found his groove in a field of veterans and carefully moved his way up to 38th before having to pit on lap 15. An exemplary 17 second pit stop would have bought the team a few spots until NASCAR handed down a "drive through" penalty for a stray wedge wrench, relegating Brett to the back of the field.
With powerful Yates equipment and a very patient driver, the #73 Ford Fusion fought being a lap down until lap 83 where Brett, trying to avoid a slower car, was involved in a wreck that sent the team to the garage, reducing track time the team desperately needs.
"I was a lap down and was trying to avoid wrecking into a car that was also a lap down when the #38 came up and just couldn't avoid us" Rowe explained. All three cars were involved in the wreck, causing extensive damage to the #73 Imperial Bedding/FUZE Ford Fusion.
"It's unfortunate," Team owner, Jason Hager explained. "Imperial bedding and all of our sponsors have really worked hard to get this team competitive in a very competitive sport. We've qualified for both our races which shows we can perform; we just need the track time."
After transporting the #73 Ford Fusion to its West Virginia home, the team will prepare for their next Busch Series appearance in Nashville on June 9th for the Federated Auto Parts 300 where they will once again enjoy Julie Roberts as the Guest Sponsor.
